A selection of pubs in and around the Cotswolds

8) The Golden Heart, situated between Cirencester and Cheltenham.
This pub has low ceilings and is well worth the visit for a pint. Its placement at the bottom of a dip on a busy road does make leaving a little tricky though. 7.5/10.
9) The Bakers Arms in Somerford Keynes.
Nice garden at the back, quaint little pub inside. A good afternoon out. 7.5/10.
10) The Bell at Sapperton.
I have been here a few times, the picture was taken when we came for my Sister and brother-in-laws Hag (hen/stag) lunch. I can argue that it is a great place to come for food and an enjoyable afternoon however, yet again, it does not provide a lot of quality space for thirsty locals. 6/10.
11) The Catherine Wheel in Bibury.
A few friends of mine like to visit this pub as a local but the pub area is small and there is more of a focus on dining. I didn't think much of it. 5/10.
12) The Gumstool Inn Nr Tetbury.
Whilst I have met a friend for drinks here, and the bar area is more substantial than other gastro pubs in the area, there is a poor selection of drinks at the bar and the atmosphere is more modern and bar-like than I want from a pub. 5/10.
13) The Hare & Hounds at Chedworth, a little way outside of Cirencester.
This pub is geared up for eating and I didn't feel particularly comfortable just going for a pint. In my book, whilst I'm sure the food is probably very nice, this is a NAP (Not A Pub). You'd be better off going a bit further down the road to the Inn at Fossbridge (see below). 4/10.
14) The Inn at Fossbridge at Chedworth, a little way outside of Cirencester.
Cosy atmosphere, good food, friendly staf and a good garden at the back. It edges towards the more restaurantee side of things and I have been to better pubs but I wouldn't be dissappointed to come here for a pint. 7/10.
15) The Masons Arms in Meysey Hampton.
I came here to receive a set of ACA exam results. Had a great chat with the landlord at a few of the local and passed all my exams, definitely one of the my better trips. 8/10.
16) The New Inn at Coln Nr Bibury.
As with many of the pubs in the area there is a focus on food, whilst they are called gastro pubs, they seem more like restaurants. There was a small area specified for people who just want a few ales. 5/10 (verging on NAP).
17) The Swan at Southrop.
As above with the New Inn at Coln. 5/10 (verging on NAP).
18) The Wheatsheaf Inn at Oaksey.
I played a wet round of golf on the 9 hole course nearby then stopped off here for an ale. There isn't a lot to say about it, it's a pretty decent place for a drink but I'm not chomping at the bit to go back. 7/10.
